Where we do Tango
We are running this on alternate Mondays and the next dates are:
6th September
20th September
4th October
18th October
please note there is no practica on
August 2nd
The practica is at the Hunter Club
which is not far from central
Bury St Edmunds..
You will find this on St Andrews Street South (IP33 1QF) and there is good parking after 6 p.m. on the street outside. There are a few parking
spaces in front of the hall itself.
Times are 7.30 to 10.00 p.m. and beginners, new and experienced dancers are all welcome
Cost is £4 for the evening for each dancer.
Nervous and/or sceptical
people are welcome to
come and watch for free!
Distinct from show Tango which we see on TV which looks clever but difficult, ours is a social dance which is built around improvisation and not set routines. Basically, if you can walk, you can start to Tango.
"It takes two to Tango" - the connection betwen two dancers is central and this provides the subtlety and dialogue which makes the dance so appealing. It is a great way of conditioning your body and keeping fit, but, be careful, as Tango can change your life!

Tango classes in the Autumn - for anyone who wants to get some dance instruction in Tango, whether for a beginner or for someone who has been dancing a while, there will be courses starting in September in mid Suffolk in Henley, north of Ipswich. For details, go to SuffolkTango. We realise that these may not be too local, but you do have to travel to learn Tango.
On Sunday 29th August there is the "End of Summer" Milonga from 5 until 9 at the Riverside Centre at Stratford St Andrew - a chance to dance at a proper Milonga with the people you may have been practising with. For details of venue, etc, go to End of Summer Milonga
