Paul Vossen Workshop on March 5th
Paul is returning on the 5th March to teach a workshop on floorcraft and the working title is:
“Small is Beautiful.” Dancing in the smallest space. How to survive a crowded floor and still experience freedom in the dance.
We have all experienced the panic of trying to dance in a confined space and the fear of colliding with other dancers - this is all about how to make use of the space you have.
Class runs from 7.30 until 9.00 and is followed by dancing and practica. Not suitable for beginners but anyone is invited to come and pbserve and take part in the dancing afterwards. (Dancing only costs £2 - workshop plus dancing is £8)
Private classes were available, but now all booked.
This event is one of several classes being given by Paul in the region and tango dancers are encouraged to take part in many or all of the events - details are on this page: events
Bury Tango
Tango is an improvised dance and so we endeavour to interpret the music by listening to it in an inspired way.
During a workshop or through lessons we can learn techniques which will develop our understanding of Tango by direct teaching. These can last from half an hour up to two hours. From these we can improve our balance and posture and learn routines which we can adapt to our own dancing. Learning Tango is a process which usually takes years.
At a tango practica we learn to dance through practising with others or observing their techniques. This is not formal dancing but an environment in which we can approach others in order to learn from what they can do.
At Bury Tango we hope to provide a combination of lessons, practica and actual dancing to help the development of everyone's Tango
A warning to the curious: Tango is a dance which relies totally on good connection between partners with good posture and technique. One of the main appeals for dancers is the sensation and passion of dancing with your partner. This takes time and practice to achieve and so Tango will require commitment and application - there are few quick routes and answers and so this process takes time. If you want to pick up all the basics in one lesson you will be disappointed and this is why many Tango schools recommend that beginners sign up for several classes as part of a course - this way ensures that they stay until the end. There are other dance styles that are quicker to learn and look both active and vibrant and are probably more accessible. Tango will take time and patience and practice - in the end it is well worth while.
